What the Care Quality Commission registration means
Dental practices in England register with the Care Quality Commission as providers of regulated activity. The registration names the provider and the location, so it identifies both who runs the practice and where it operates.
Why buyers look here
Practice sales are an established market with active buyers, and demand from corporates and from associates buying their first practice runs at the same time. A practice that owns its freehold is a materially different proposition from one on a lease.
What to check
- The NHS contract, where there is one, is the largest single value driver and does not appear on any register here.
- Registration is per location, so a group shows as several entries under one provider.
- Around half carry outstanding charges.
- Goodwill dominates the price and nothing on a public register measures it.
How to search
Choose Dental on the search screen and narrow by town, how long the business has traded, how ownership is held, and whether the premises are traceable. Searching is free and shows the shape of each company without naming it. A report on one company costs from £4.90.
